Our senior therapist is Amanda Lord. She is qualified to diploma level (level 5) in sports massage, having achieved distinctions at both levels 4 and 5. She is also qualified in anatomy, physiology, and holistic massage (distinction) and has a level 5 diploma level in sports therapy (distinction).

Amanda had an office job for many years before retraining as a sports therapist. She was prompted to retrain after learning of the potential benefits and after personal experience of receiving good treatments. She recognises the huge difference in value between a good therapy treatment and some others, so continues to work hard to be the best therapist she can be.

Amanda has wide experience of working with people who have pain or difficulties with certain movements. She works with people with an identified injury, but also with people who cannot pinpoint a particular issue – they just know that their body is not working as well as they would like it to.

Amanda’s therapies may be helpful if you are feeling the effects of stress, suffering from repetitive strain, recovering after an operation, suffering from a long-term illness/condition, have an injury, or want to give yourself every chance of improving your sporting performance.

As well as working with people who compete at an amateur level, Amanda has a particular interest in the impact of modern lifestyles on the body, and in enabling individuals to minimise pain, whether or not they choose to continue in, or return to, their chosen sport as they advance in years.

Another area of interest for Amanda is the use of manual therapies to assist musicians.

Amanda has participated in, and still enjoys, a variety of sports. She played hockey to County and University level, took up horse-riding as an adult and competed in team chasing and in eventing (to BE Novice). She also enjoys skiing, most of which is done at her local dry slope.
Amanda also enjoys playing music, including playing in a brass band.
